Hiring a freelancer on trust is a bad deal for both sides: the client pays upfront and hopes, the freelancer delivers and hopes. This marketplace holds the client's money in escrow until they approve the work, then releases it as an exact split — and it only lists providers an administrator has actually vetted.
What it does
- Clients post a project and fund it; the money stays locked while the project is funded, in review or in dispute.
- On approval it releases as an 80/20 split — 80% to the provider, 20% platform commission — computed in integer kobo so the two halves always reconcile to the deposit exactly.
- Providers build portfolios and are reviewed by an administrator before they become visible to clients at all.
- Every project gets its own message thread, deliverable uploads and milestone tracking.
- A ledger-backed wallet tracks what each provider has actually earned and guards withdrawals against the approved balance.
Worth calling out
Money that adds up
Commission is floored to the kobo and the provider's share is the remainder, never a second rounded calculation. On a marketplace, a half-kobo that does not reconcile is a support ticket every time.
Escrow you cannot accidentally release
Escrow state is derived from project status rather than set by hand — the release path simply cannot run while a project is in review or dispute.
Verification before visibility
Unapproved providers do not appear in search at all, rather than appearing with a badge. The default has to be the safe one.
